Come to the inaugural Toronto Liferay User group meeting to hear Brian Kim, Liferay founder and current COO, talk about the future of this open source portal and GTA developers who have been working with Liferay. We'll be discussing performance, adapting the Liferay portal to the needs of specific projects, approaches for integrating with other systems, and development technologies used including AJAX and the portal standards JSR-168 and JSR-286.


York University recently launched My.Yorku.ca using Liferay Portal; it was named by Infoworld's as the best open-source portal of 2007; it was recently named a "visionary" by Gartner in its Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portal Products, 2008; and in May of this year, Sun Microsystems Inc and Liferay announced an initiative to develop a common Web presentation platform that incorporates portal and integration technologies from both companies.

More about Brian Kim: Brian is one of the original founders of Liferay, Inc. and an experienced technology consultant and operations manager. As COO, he has led the growth of the company's Professional Services Organization and orchestrates the ongoing operations of a fast-growing global organization. Prior to co-founding Liferay, Brian worked alongside upper management at HubbardOne on internal company operations. He is also an alumnus of Accenture where he worked with marquée clients in the financial services sector. Brian holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Chicago and has spoken at industry events such as The Server Side Symposium.
